On 1^st  December 2006  the seminar

"Design, construction and results in UST_1 , a small low-cost  educational stellarator"

was held at the LNF 'Laboratorio Nacional de Fusion' , in CIEMAT ('Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas')   in Madrid, Spain, EU.     LNF  houses the TJ-II  heliac stellarator facility.

   I presented the UST_1 stellarator including :

- Background data

- UST_1 : Coils, vacuum vessel, mechaniser, vacuum and control system

- SimPIMF code and Optimization of coils

- Experimental results : Field mapping system and magnetic surfaces

- Chronological description : Evolution, alternatives, difficulties and solutions

  The seminar created great expectance and some of the reactions of the audience after the talk were:
